I have a ~15 yr old ginko tree growning in a pot. It is tall and i was wanting to chop it down to just under half. Is it a OK to chop it down now or should i wait. If i have to wait... when do i wait till?

It can be done now or better still late winter. Be aware that ginkgo are well known for limbs dying after being chopped.

also...be aware that ginkos don't heal over the way many other trees do...so be careful about "how" you chop it...having the "cut" least visible from the front.

I was told to chop in late winter (right) before the tree begins to wake up for spring. I did that with mine and it responded with lots of branches and leaves sprouting from the trunk. (I also gave it a root prune at the time, as I was instructed they were nearly indestructable.)
