getting worried about my japanese maple
i posted a thread called 3 new trees in "show and tell" if you wanna see the maple im talking about. it's a little one about 12 inches tall. i just transplanted soil and all from a 2 3/4 pot to a bigger one. at the top of the little tree the leaves are starting to dry out and it's not stopping...what is happening? this isn't happening to my other plants.

If it's in the sun, it shouldn't be - new transplants need to be in the shade for a season. Also, water well when you do it, but give it a chance to begin dry a bit more between times if you're keeping it mostly wet. What's the new soil mix like? It may not have been the best time to transplant though, and waiting for dormancy could have been better.

It's autumn. Maples go dormant in autumn. They lose their leaves.
Additionally, the leaves could be showing signs of damage from the summer heat in your area. Japanese maples in small containers generally don't do well in hot climates. |
