I haven't and I won't rate a post, a tree or a thread. I want to encourage any and all people to post their ideas or trees or thoughts and if we get heavy into the rating thing people are going to be disappointed that they didn't rate any stars or one or two stars. The problem I have run into on other boards--not just bonsai boards--is that some people end up feeling like only the "hot dogs" or "giants" or whatever have valuable contributions. I think the star rating system contributes to this feeling. Matt, how about a new pole: how many people vote to keep the star system or get rid of it? Earl

Sometimes it just adds to the clique feeling. Look at the poll results - someone actually rates a thread by who wrote it. Sheesh! It's pretty bad when a board devoted to bonsai even has a caste system.
