My name is Paul and I live in southern California about 30-miles north of Los Angeles. I have a backyard full of trees, none of which I would consider a bonsai but I'm working on that. I'm a newsletter editor for our local bonsai club (Descanso Bonsai Society). I'm 36, married with three kids. I'm a professional geologist (hence my nickname). I enjoy tai chi, brush painting, photography, etc. Regarding photography, I'm slowly getting used to the digital stuff (TB's macro stuff are amazing), but I still work with black and white film and have my darkroom. david bonsaiTALK Artisan Join Date: Aug-2002 Country: england Posts: 116	thought id get involved a bit more.... im david, i live in the uk, i am 31 and single i produce bonsai, live bonsai, but sadly also retail them!!! the fact that i sell them often places barriers between i and other enthusiasts which is a shame. my main interest is in european native bonsai which i develop on quite a large scale. been bonsaiing 15 years and still loving it, also a musician and songwriter which has taken a back seat somewhat. always willing to talk bonsai and share images etc best david

I'm mostly into landscape and archtecture photography, with a bit of macro work thrown in. I've been using a lot of infrared film for the last few years (mostly Kodak HIE). I got into the bonsai thing some months ago when one of my friends got a bonsai tree for christmas and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now I have a crabapple tree that will stay at home, and 2 plants that will go with me. One is a bunch of random jade plants, and one is what I am 80% sure is a Norfolk Pine. My name is Brian, I'm in zone 9 in the San Francisco Bay area, been into this hobby for 4 years. I have mostly deciduous trees. I'm not sure I've settled on a favorite species, but I like the evergreen oaks (Q. agrifolia, Q. chrysolepsis, Q. suber) maples. I've used alot of small leafed honeysuckle (Lonicera nitida) and Fuschia thymifolia for forests and rock plantings. I'll post a selection as soon as I figure out my new camera and software. My other major hobby is martial arts (12 years in Kempo).
