Fixed by nature ? ?

I am always amazed at how nature will heal itself and get on with it. In 1989 Hurricane Hugo slammed through Summerville SC. Ripped the place up pretty good.
That hurricane spawned may tornados which did manage to grab the tops of many tress in my neighborhood. ( those that were not blown over by the 130+ mph hurricane winds.)
I was just out walking a few minutes ago and noticed how the trees are healing over and doing the necessary repairs. After all these years it is almost done.
If you look at the first picture you will see a line that I put there showing about where the trees had their tops ripped off.
The second picture shows how they look now. Goofy but functional apexes. Almost like a trident isn't it.
Surprising how many trees in the area are like this. Wonder if eventually this growth will topple the trees.

Hi Ron,

Looks like it's improved the ramification, too!

This looks like the brittle secondary growth that developed rapidly after our neighbors trimmed a whole row of Eucalyptus down to 15-20 feet. Those things snap like carrots now in the storms.

Regards,

Matt
