Thumbs up Ficus trees around my house

Hello everyone....I thought I'd take you for a walk around my front yard and show you some of the ficus trees we have here.

The first pics are of my bonsai buddy daughter holding the aerial roots we plaited together about 3 months ago...

I've used her throughout to give scale to the photos

Hope you enjoy the pics
Tai

Few more...The 2nd and third shots are of a ficus sucking in another tree...

In a year or so this log will be absorbed into the tree...

And the last is a new ficus going up a coconut tree...Strangling the life out of it as it goes...

Brilliant.I always look forward to seeing pics of large ficus, thanks for sharing Tai!This weekend I am planning to bundle up around 60 1" diameter Ficus trees into a large growbox, that will give me the makings of a banyan bonsai with about a 20-25" trunk diameter.Nice pics.

Hey Redpine, I'm Glad you enjoyed the pics. I'm not sure if you've seen what people round here do to ficus trees..see attached drawing...

Try doing one of these with a PVC inner core to give a completely hollow trunk...You can experiment with PVC tube sizes...Its a very fast way to make large ficus trees...And makes seedlings go a long way! They will all end up melting together eventually...

Hi Tai,

I havent' done that yet but have seen it done with wood and different stuff. It seems to work out well. One thing I notice is when people take pics of figs they rarely get the entire tree in the shot. They just grow to big I imagine.Fun stuff.
