Ficus Branches Cracked . . .

Earlier this morning as I was wiring one of my Ficus trees, I was in more than a bit of a hurry. I knew I shouldn't have continued, but my impatient side kicked in a bit. I cracked two of the main branches. Now, I am not able at the moment to go out and purchase some more moss to wrap around the wound. Also, the wound sealant that I have, I don't really like. It's a black, oil-like substance, that doesn't really work all that well. Does anybody have any quick suggestions as to what else I could do to ensure that the branches don't die off? Both of them are approximately 1 inch thick, and I cracked them both about half of the way through. Thanks!!

Here's my non-expert idea.

When I had a branch break on me, I wrapped it in paper towels, and then tightly duct-taped it. It kept the wound nice & tight, but didn't injure the bark because the paper towels was protecting it. It did seem to heal pretty well.
