Excellent Article

All,

Ran across this excellent discourse by Graham Potter.

http://www.kaizenbonsai.com/new_approach.htm

Please enjoy and discuss. Obviously I like it as I rant about much the same topics...

Namely,

1. Workshops and Instruction
2. Buying finished bonsai and good material

Enjoy,

Interesting. I must say that I do agree. We dont have all our time.

I will still grow tree's from seeds or cutting, But im definatly start buying more suitable material. I want to enjoy a nice bonsai collection before im retired. Thats why, I dont spend dollars in garden centre anymore. I try my best to keep money, make trip to Bonsai nursery and buy stuff with potential.

Like said in the article, we all have played with poor material, made rookie mistake, It's the process of learning.

Jim,

Thanks for sharing this. Strange, but today seemed the perfect day for me to read something along these lines. Coincidence or fate? Sometimes I wonder if there is actually a difference between the two.

I have to say I'm very glad you pointed this article out, because I am one of the frustrated beginners the author wrote about in this article. It's nice to know that the feelings I am having as I try to become more serious about my newly found bonsai lifestyle enthusiasm are not singular, and that they are shared by perhaps hordes of newcomers and novices such as myself.

I came to the conclusion that I need better material to work with a few weeks ago, and have decided to work hard at saving a good piece of money back and taking a drive to a Bonsai specific nursery such as Brussels to find some good quality material I can work with to help out with taking some of the edge off of my frustration. I have plenty of patience, and I'll soon be 32, so by some standards I would be considered young but for myself I see the years starting to come and go more quickly.

Thanks again for pointing out this article, it was just what I needed.
