Walter et al:
First off, I have to say I am not a lover of pines, but if I fell over this tree, I would definitely consider it good to excellent material.

The first thing I would do is cut away some of the foliage as seen in the attached... Then I woul d leave it alone for a year and start working on back budding before I would proceed further.

I must tell you all, I do not know how to do virtuals, except to erase....

Now I guess I have walked the plank!!!
