I personally think that this one could have considerable potential. Those foliage-bearing branches should be bendable into more or less whereever they are desired, and the trunk and potential deadwood seem to offer an excellent foundation and centerpiece around which the foliage could be fashioned.

Could I do it myself? I'm not sure, but I'd love to try and I know I'd learn a lot.

Could Walter do it? I'd imagine so. Is it worth his time to do it? That, we'll see.

Best regards,
Carl

Good, or garbage

Well concidering that the quality of most older material, and vertually all collected material depends on the experiance and ability of the artest. I would say that this material is in exelent hands, my vote for good is based on the ability of the artest.

OK - I'll go out on a limb too!

Hey Al - where is your opinion? Aren't you going to weigh in on this?

Walter should take pity on us and saw off the limb we are all out here on

I am going to vote "mediocre" or "poor" for the following reasons:

1. I would not know what to do with this material! A style just does not come to me when I look at it.

2. The green growth on the ends of the branches bothers me - there may be some back budding that is not apparent in the photo.

3. All those dead branches suggest to me that there are some root problems I see potential for a one sided tree - not sure even a windswept styling will work as has been suggested.

Well - is this a trick question Walter Are you going to show us a fabulous bonsai that you created from this material?

Well of course it's a trick question. It is the perogative of geniuses to play with the rest of us. For those of us who don't get it, I suggest seeing the movie "Amadeus". Still should be available at your local video rental.

OK, I will give yo a hint.
Nex year in April w have the big Kimura show in Munich, Germany in Nymphenburg Palace.
I had to provide six trees for the master. This one was cosidered for a second and I definitely took it out of the selection for Kimura.
Now the question is why?
