EPCOT Bougainvillea

Bart Thomas promised for me that I would post a picture of my bougainvillea in full bloom when I returned from EPCOT. So, here it is. Apologies on the background. Also apologies for putting the tree on a stand that is way too small for it. My dad and are rebuilding all of our stands using wood instead of concrete block. We had not gotten to building one for my bougie, and it rained all last week when we had the chance to.

I believe Walter Pall and a few others might be happier with the way the tree looks now. I do not mind the canopy this size. However, the pot is too small for the current canopy. It could be moved into a larger pot if I choose to keep the canopy this size, but I have not decided yet. One thing that does bother me is the fact that the tree has become visually one-sided since I dropped it off at Epcot. That can be fixed quickly and easily though.

Also, there was a bit of a suprise in my tree. It appears that a bird made a nest in the tree while it was at Epcot. However, it appears that there are still eggs in the nest. Any suggestions on what to do with the eggs? I am sure they will not survive without their mother.

A thing of beauty, Charles.

Unintentional maybe, but the petals on the soil are kinda nice.

IMHO the canopy is the right size and just wants some tidying.

Pity about the eggs, as they surely won't make it without mommy or an incubator. Enjoy your omlet

You can try to incorporate the nest with the eggs into the overall design, making a few cosmetic changes to the nest to make it neat and compact. The eggs will eventually dry out and be just fine with their empty shell.

Imagine, the only bonsai in the world with an actual nest!

This can be a joke, of course, but I would still look into the possibility, just for fun's sake. What if it could be possible...?

Edit: in art, the element of surprise is highly valued. Looking at the picture, I can see no sign of the nest, so it doesn't really do any harm to the overall look. But at close inspection, one can have a revelation by discovering it:"look, a nest, can you belive it?"

What a Tree!

That bougie is incredibly beautiful Charles.I'm envious and willing myself to not be covetous .

In my dreams.....i would go with a larger pot, rectangular, deeper, maybe glazed deep green....clean up the branches on the lower left so that there is some space between the soil and the leaves..........but that's just My dream and My opinion based on my tastes

I do agree with you Andy. If I decide to leave the canopy as large as it is, a larger and deeper rectangular pot will match the tree very well.

Thank you Pootsie. Many of the petals are looking rather wilted and are beginning to fall off. I believe they fell onto the pot while we moved the tree from the car to the stand. In another day or two, I will completely remove all of the flowers so as to not stress the tree with wilted old flowers.

It would make a good accent . The color of the eggs serves as a nice contrast to the color of the flowers.

Let's see... That pot cost 4 months allowance and lasted about 6 months.

And now you have to support a car as well!

Better talk to Jim S about trade-ins. Maybe the tree will have to put up with mica until it determines its final form.

So, you wanna give it away?

It's looking really great!
