Elm Problems

It has been a very dry spring here. (Florida Gulf Coast) The usual watering routine wasn't enough and before I realized what happened, my elms got dry, leaves got crispy and fell off. At least that is what I think happened. But when the trees budded back out, the new leaves have very tiny dark spots on them. Some of these trees I have had for 15 years and never had this happen before. It seems to affect all the elms except for the cork barks. Any ideas would be appreciated.
sincerely,
susieq

I would say if it is that dry, I would consider some type of temporary, make-shift humidity tent out of plastic with good ventilation until they are back to normal. Just a thought.

Thank you for the reply T34, I do have a little gadget that would do the trick. I have never had to do anything like that before.
I have started leaving a big shallow try (think cookie sheet) with some water in it, under the elms. The water isn't deep enough to actually get into the pots, but it does seem to help humidify them.

I was just worried that I might be mistaken in thinking the problem was being too dry. They are leafing out again.
Thanks again, for the suggestion
