Matt and all,
I was just leafing through this post and noted you had bought a Sakufu-ten and Kokufu-ten book on ebay.
For those that have never seen these books they are picture books of the trees entered in these exhibitions . Kokufu is + or - 280 trees.
Fabulous pictures, large, professionally done.
Some may have noted that California bonsaiman Jim Barrett from Arcadia, Ca. advertises Kokufu books for sale in magazines. I just saw an ad in International Bonsai for 2003 editions at $119.50 ( Much cheaper than going to Tokyo to order one!!! ). BTW, you CAN'T buy the present year exhibition album at the exhibition. They ship them to you a few months later and the shipping brings them to about that price as I recall. These can be studied for hours and the investment is much more worthwhile than ten of the $17 books you see at Borders!
The Daimaru Department store (in Tokyo) annual competition ( Sakufu-ten) is a fantastic album to obtain if you can find them. When I visited Mr. Kobayashi's home in 2001 he had just won first place with a Black Pine and was selling these albums for about $20 as I recall.
Here's a good link to all the prestigeous shows yearly in Japan

Regards and FYI,

Looks like another "hype-master" product.
but,
on second thought...
You COULD wear these while potting up your walking pots from "pop-bonsai"
