ok, so i have been to the main website of bonsaitalk.i saw the post about ebay cutting out all transactions for bonsai. i have been getting alot of my supplies from there. is the article really true or is it just humor. the idea of closing all sales of bonsai on ebay just seems wrong, i can see the cat thing, that is wrong, but trees,,come on now. this has been done for centries

Not sure if it is a joke or not. But I will say that Ebay is usually the most expensive ways to buy bonsai supplies. From what I have seen at least. And about that I am not joking

Ron:

By and large I agree with you, but there are many enthusiasts out there without local bonsai vendors who find it very valuable. Sometimes there are even things that are attractive to discriminating buyers as well.

It's also a great way to liquidate no longer wanted items, such as the 27" oval mica pot that came with a collected tree in it.

That might be true but it is still usually the most expensive place to buy bonsai supplies.

I think it is really important to support your local bonsai shop, if there is one. I haven't bought much in the way of bonsai supplies off eBay, but over the past six months, I did find some unique items that would be hard to find in a store. This stuff all crawled up the eBay listing on our homepage:

1. Two show catalog books (Sakufu-ten and Kokufu-ten)
2. 1 package of color anodized "Dazzle Wire" for demos
3. 2 yards of bonsai tapestry fabric for making some throw pillows
4. Bonsai brooch for the wife
5. Bonsai Bear book for the baby
6. 3 Handmade Bonsai Soap cakes (for gifts)
7. Two copies of The Mambonsai (Japanese books)
8. 2 decks of bonsai picture playing cards from China

If you do shop, check the seller's feedback and be mindful of of shipping charges, especially if the stuff is coming from abroad!

Regards,

Matt

How true, Matt. You just can't find those Handmade Bonsai Soap cakes at the nurseries these days.

well ill tell ya what guys and gals, being from lower southeast kansas. ebay and online stores are it. there is nothing for at least 175 to 200 miles from here. the closest bonsai club is tulsa oklahoma. ive looked at many supplies on the net, i.e. your average store, i can get my smaller pots of of ebay for 1/3rd the cost, wire is cheaper, plus the lil things you just cant find. it would be nice to have something closer. ive done a huge amount of research and cant find anyone in the area who does bonsai. lol even the local nurseries laugh at me. so far ebay and bonsaiboy of new york have done me very nice. if you guys have more stores, please feel free to share.

Matt agree with you, you can some times fnd unusual bonsai items on ebay, saw not so long ago a pot that was owned by P. Adams and appeared in a book, you could by the book as well.

Jonny.
