Drastic Pruning Of Satsuki Azaleas

Hi,

I have several smaller satsuki azaleas that were damaged several weeks ago when we got a freak cold snap (19deg) that caught me off guard. The leaves withered and went brownish. When I scrape the wood, it is still green underneath.

The question is what to do now? I have them in the garage now, mid 30's to 40's with minimal light from a window.

I can do any of the following:

1. Drastic Prune and keep in a sunny window

2. Put them under a poly tent with a humidity tray in the basement near some grow fluorescents (for orchids) temp around 63.

3. Keep in garage, keep moist, and do nothing.

Any thoughts.

Also - How much light do satsukis need in semi-dormancy?
Thanks for any help!

If you haven't lost anything but leaves, why would you react by drastic pruning or anything else?

I guess I was confused as to what happens to satsuki's in the winter. My other Satsuki's (the ones that were not shocked) either have their green foliage or have changed to oranges, yellows, golds and the leaves are still very firm and firmly attached to the tree.

I was afraid that since the leaves are droopy and dark that I might have killed the trees even though the wood is green.

I assumed (yes I know what happens when you ass-u-me) that since satsuki's are evergreen they still needed leaves to have some minimum activity over the winter - hence the other question about amount of light required.

The satsuki's I have I just got this year, so they are new to me in terms of overall care.
