Unhappy contributor icon

Hi all,

I think it's a good idea to be able to sponsor Bonsaitalk. I will as soon as I find out how to use this paypal thingy... One thing I'm not so fond about are these contributor icons that users get when they have made a donation. What are they good for ? Is it to show what a great person you are to make a donation ? What is the next step ? I will only answer to people who have donated at least $50,- ?? But what if you are a student on a tight budget ? Why does everybody has to know who contributed how much money ? Can't we do it anonymous ?

regards, René

Those icons aren't a bad thing. Just a way to say thanks. You are reading a bit too much into it.

I have been lurking and posting now and then for going on 3 years now so I figured a small donation is worth every penny.
Thanks Matt

Even if someone is a college student on a tight budget, $10 dollars a year is not to much to deal with. The contributor icons are giving the donors the recognition deserve.

Didn't realise how difficult it is to get a paypal account. I have to now wait for my credit card statement to get a password so that I could have a limit to send money. It might be a while too. Must be because I'm In Oz we have this difficulty or is it that all the contributors so far already had paypal accounts?

Hi David,

Usually that account verification is required only if you want to receive funds. Or perhaps the card you are using is a debit and not a credit card. I guess the requirements may vary from country to country, and I can only see the US help information.

In any case there is no rush, and there are instructions for snail-mailing a personal check instead of using Paypal - that information is on the "Learn More" link beneath the "Contribute" button at upper right.

Thanks for asking.

Regards,

Matt

David, I am having the same problem here in California. I setup an account to pay my BTO dues and have to wait to get my credit card bill for the password. (Frustrating! Maybe it's because I'm no guru when it comes to the computer? Maybe I'm just impatient?) I guess I'll just have to wait . . . then I can use it other things like BT. I guess it's a good thing to have in general for internet use?

These computers sure made life easier didn't it. Much faster than the old days.
Used to be we had to write a check, stick a stamp on it and it took 3 or 4 days to get there. Now with the speed of light we can transfer funds. But only if we wait till the end of the month so that we can get the password.
Guess that is progress. Days are now weeks. ;o)
Give me the old days.!!!
