Never tried it but I've heard alfalfa pellets, like rabbit feed, can work pretty well. They say you need to get the pure alfalfa though. Not the stuff with added proteins and fat.

Pdbbonsai, there is absolutely no reson not to stay with what works. It depends on your temperment and vision. I've always been an iconoclast. I like trying things that are different and it pleases me to disprove "conventional wisdom". Don't know why; that's just me. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. Like Ricky Nelson advises us, "You can't please everybody, so you might as well please yourself.".
