Do you like this Bonsai stand?

Hello one and all,

A Friend and I have started building our own bonsai stands and I would love to get some opinions on them. The first is made completely from Afzelia wood burl and the second is made of afzelia wood burl embedded inside a piece of walnut. let me know if you like!

Very nice Malik...

However, I think the legs are too "massive" for the thin top.

I enjoy every opinion...even the ones that say the tables are terrible, but if you do feel like they are not very good please leave me a comment backing your opinion. This way I can gain some knowledge of how other see them and eliminate the chance of someone just being negative. Thanks!

malik,

I really like the second stand with the inlay in the walnut. I would agree with Pat that the legs are a bit too big and the first table is a little too tall in my opinion. Great craftsmanship though! shoot me a PM if you have more like that walnut table that you'd be willing to part with!

Cheers,
~ Jay

The workmanship is excellent. However I have to agree the legs are to massive for the delicate top.

Dear Malik

VERY , VERY NICE !!!!!!!!

The first Picture with the plateau without the other plateau
on it , is WONDERFUL !!!

The shape and structure of the legs go beautifully with
the thin and more "silent" plateau.
It is the dualism of the shapes and structures ,
that gives the excitment in the design.

As it is , i can imagen a stone on it , pure.
Without a diaza or suiban.
Wonderful !!
Thank You for showing your work.
Kind regards
Morea

As far as woodworking goes it looks great. As far as a stand for bonsai it is way overboard.

Too busy. The stand should add to a display, not be the focal point of it.

The fact that the azalia burl had so many eyes and pattern in it was a concern because I know that the stand should not take your attention away from the tree. I accepted this type of wood because it is so freakin beautiful! I mean look at it...100% natural! The color is a subtle orange and the walnut compliments it very well.

The design is very full of pattern, but it still has a natural look. Unless your stand is a bright color or an oddly shaped design, I don't see it overshadowing the tree displayed on it. Plus, the tree placed on it covers the majority of the afzelia wood leaving a glimps to be enjoyed by the viewer.

As far as the legs being too long on the first stand, i can see that. When I made it i wanted to display a shohin cascade on it so i wanted to make it a bit tall. I love the feedback so please keep it comin'!

As far as the craftsmanship, the credit must go to my friend Vinny, he is very skilled in wood working. I am more of an aprentice that helps in the design department of our projects.
