Question Dead tree for sale on ebay??

Ok I was going through the bonsai for sale on ebay and I noticed this(see link) Is it just me or is this tree dead/dying? I hate to stir things up but I just had to run this by everybody. Notice this individual's ebay name "dyedb". Any thoughts?

No, it's just the photo. He is a member here, maybe he will see this thread.

Looks like a very poor choice of lighting. Based on his feedback I wouldn't think he sells many dead trees.

Really? Well I apologize to him for this, I guess it is just the lighting. I did notice the feedback as well, and thought that would be odd. Sorry again.

Thumbs up

yea, bad lighting. It crossed my mind too that it may have been dying, but noticed the angle of the light. Kinda makes it cool looking...a bronze glowing JBP. I got this auction in my "items watching" list

It aint dead, Jim

No, its actually a very healthy JBP. Poor lighting? sure. No flash and bad ISO coupled with a red clay pot. You have the solution?
That said, if you want a dead one, I can find one for you.
I know a lot of people that cannot keep them alive. :-)

So, not liking my photography skills is not enough? You have to question my screen name too? Seriously. Did I offend you in some prior lifetime?

If you would like some pictures in natural lighting then send me an email. If you have questions just ask them in response to the listing. That way you don't have to stir things up. :-(

GB,
Not trying to stir anything up, either, but it doesn't look healthy at all. I used to take pics like that until I happened upon a members tutorial on photographing bonsai. Here's the link. To good photographs!

Having seen a number of trees that Dyedb (aka Gregory Beach Bonsai- he has his website listed on the Ebay page) has sold over the past few years and by looking at his feedback (100% positive except for a negative from a non-paying bidder) I think you can determine that the tree is most likely fine. If you have a question, ask the seller to send a new picture.

(hey Dyedb, how about them Spartans kicking the lowly Irish down where they belong! John)

Java, I appreciate the advice and the link. Obviously, I need to spend more time and use better effort.

John, thanks for posting. My wife and I went to the MSU v. ND game yesterday. A wonderful day to be a Spartan. We had a great time.

Re: the photos. Backlighting, no flash and the red clay pot cause the tree to look yellow. Another member here pointed that out early on during the auction. There was a bid already so rather than cancel the auction I chose to leave it as is. It is a good, healthy tree.

GB....in many cameras you can adjust the white balance setting to compensate for different kinds of lighting. Most photo applications also have a color correction tool.

Nice tree btw.
