Darn roots aren't cheap

Had to break down and spend a buck today. I hate doing that.
I have a ridding lawnmower that is kind of an important to me.
Not only is my back yard a full acre, which is a bit too much for a push mower, but I have a cart that I tow behind the mower. A highly useful thing Not only business wise but it does come in handy when moving a few of my larger bonsai around.
Yesterday I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and ran over a high root in the yard. Was going at a pretty good clip at the time. The blades were singing and I sounded like a bumblebee screaming across the yard. Heard a big bang. Some grinding noises. Thought this isn't right.
Shut the mower down and took a peak. The root had ripped the undercarriage right out from under the mower. Blades were bent. One had come entirely off. Shaft and all.
This is not a good thing. It is an expensive thing. Almost as much as the mower had originally costs.
Had to junk the darn thing. Pity I really liked that mower All 14 HP of it.
I went shopping today for another one. No surprises when I saw how much the prices had gone up on them. Everything has gone up in price over the years. Naturally what I was looking for went up the most ;o(
But I found the perfect machine. A 42 inch cut with a roaring 17.5 horses under the hood. Six forward gears and naturally one reverse (that should be enough reverse). A mans mower ;o)
Didn't know till today though. Almost all the new riding mowers come with a great new feature. A vitally important piece of equipment
A beer can holder. Way too cool.
Now old John Dixon can arrest me for mowing under the influence. That is if he can catch me. That new baby of mine can really fly in 6th gear. Ten MPH at least.
That grass is in deep stuff now. Latter I'm off to mow.

I think I'd get one of these. Lets you keep both hands on the wheel and you don't have to stop for refills.

Safety first!

Lawnmower or tractor (or horseless carriage)

So Ron, Did ya junk the old mower?

Just wondering cause I just got a mower from a neighbor who did the same thing, only she hit a Steel rod with thier mower!( They are Steel Sculptors and there's metal all around the shop!)

I simply took off the mower carriage, it came off with only a few pins!
I'm going to keep it to pull things around in a small trailer.
No sense using my good mower for a mundane task like that.

Plus I got at least another 8" of clearance( my mini tractor) and It must have dropped 60 pounds off the thing.

Wanna race sometime?

Hay Ron
Chin up, if that had been me the blade would have done a trunk chop on something. And a man can always use an upgrade in his toys.
That nitrous ain't a bad idea, think of the help that might be collecting, a real stump puller!

matt,

you forgot the magnetic ride select and the z-51 sports suspension package that comes on the new corvettes...

of course, i can always do a build and locate for him when chris cant get him the perfect luxury mower...

by the way, if you ever listen to bruce williams, he said there was a silly idea that one of his listeners had where you can install a pop-up flat-screen TV on the mower. I think i could even get you a mower with a built-in DVD entertainment system...

jeff

Hey Ron,

It just wouldn't be right to arrest you unless you were also talking on a cell phone too. That's when it gets interesting. Those kind of chases almost always end with a sudden, and I mean SUDDEN, stop. Oak trees have that effect!!!

I am so proud of my city (Charlotte) right now. The Panthers are playing great and even our cheerleaders have a lot of "love" and fight in them.
Yes, I'm kidding about the proud part with the Top Cats. Female goobers, plain and simple. And will get rich off of it.

Figures.

Oh well. "~I owe, I owe, so off to work I go. ~"
