Dallas Bonsai Auction

The Bonsai Society of Dallas will be having its annual fund raiser bonsai auction on Thur.Sept. 2nd at 6:00 PM at North Haven Gardens 7700 North Haven Rd. in Dallas. I know there are probably some lurkers out there fromthe Dallas Ft.Worth area or maybe even up in Oklahoma who might like to take advantage of this opportunity. This year we will be auctioning off trees by such artists as Colin Lewis, Suthin Sukosolvisit, Mel Ikeda, and Shane Carey. There will of course be other items also such as pots and books up for auction. Hope to meet some of you there. If anyone needs any more info they can e-mail me.

Thomas,
Do you work there for Fred? ( you said "WE")
or are you a part owner? Relative?
Curious?
Regards,
Dale

Thomas,

Will you be arriving early? I signed up to help in any way I could before the auction, so I guess Richard and I will just pop in around 5pm. If you ARE going to be there early, I would love to get your opinion on some of the material up-for-auction that you think would be best suited for us (on our pitiful small balcony).

I'll see you then!

Jennifer

Dale,
I think your confusing Dallas Bonsai Gardens with the Bonsai Society of Dallas. I meant "we" because I use the expression as being a part of the club membership, although I will be a part of the auction being the person recording the transactions. As for Fred and myself, you would think we were related since I spend so much time at his place playing with his pots. I used to live right down the street from his warehouse. but now live in a far out suburb.

Jennifer,
Yes I will be there early since I will be marking the items as they come in for the auction. Since your helping out also, just let me know what catches your eye and I'll tell you what I think.

I sure hope a lot of people take advantage of this because there are some really good trees to be auctioned off this year.

Oh Jeez, what a dummy I am. I GOTTA read better. I saw "Dallas and Bonsai....." and that was it.
Sorry.
Wondered if you worked there ( At DBG) ....a long story about my opinion!

As a matter of fact, we have a young guy, 14, coming from Akron here moving to Dallas. In fact, he may be there by now. He is VERY excited and active in club here. He'll be a good new member. Name is Zach Cureton.
Dale

Yo John, when you guys comin' up?

Hey Dale,

Ole Bonsaimen are allowed one of these once in a awhile. Remember that when I do a goof otay?

Tj,
You are a lucky stiff to get to look thru all those fine bonsai containers. I Like DBG's stuff and spend about 2 Grand a year there for items to resale to our local club members.

We do it as a service and don't markup prices. Only problem everyone is spoiled and don't sometimes realize the good prices they are getting.

I wonder has anyone ever done a real time auction over the internet. I remember when I first heard about ebay thats what I envisioned. If you had photos beforehand, and you had an agent there with internet hookup, might be some kind of lag time for sure, but would be kind of fun.

Smart guys what do you think, could it be feasible.?

OUt

Dale,
Thanks for the heads up on the new Dallas resident Zach.
I'll keep an eye open for him.

Nut,
Yeah I consider myself pretty lucky also. I've been hangin out there since 1995 when he was still selling trees. Him and his wife are the only two running the place and they're getting up there in age. Hope the good thing lasts a good bit longer. Bought This one from him back in 1996 when it was just a stump with two or three branches. I spend most of my time now going through his Tokoname pots.
