Posts: 465	I think the idea here is to perform defoliation in order to reduce leaf size but to do it in a way that the tree is stressed less severely than in complete leaf removal. Ficii (or ficus??, Jerry would know) can handle a lot of torment, though. I would be cautious of this advice...It depends on the variety of ficus you are working with...most benji varieties tend to have severe die back if no leaf is on the branch...climate and season also have a great impact on total defoliation...
