CSI Miami Gives Bonsai Another Black Eye

Tonight I was watching (actually listening while others watched until I heard the word bonsai) CSI Miami television drama series. On tonight's episode, "Kill Zone," the Crime Scene Investigation unit uncovered a paramilitary bonsai artist / sniper whose patience and diligence gave him away.

They found crushed Japanese Black Pine needles at the crime scene and the plants in his home among dozens of high-powered rifles. The concentration honed for decades of caring for tiny plants enabled him to lie in wait for hours on a rooftop, waiting for his victims.

Ultimately his hobby was his undoing!

Here are some screen caps. Unfortunately this is the first time I've used that crazy capture program and I lost the rifle & bonsai collection. Oh well. Maybe next time!

1) Pine needles as evidence?

2) Pathology lab & victims

3) Helicopter pursuit

4) Another bonsai artist in custody -
Criminal - "Don't you want to know why?"
Detective - "No. You're a sick man who's killed four innocent people, and tortured trees. You like death, and I hope you enjoy your own."

OK. (I added the bit about torturing trees.)

I thought he said: "No. You're a sick man who's killed four innocent trees, and tortured people. You like death, and I hope you enjoy your own."

Amazing. I've never watched that show but I would have liked to see it.

Well I have to agree that bonsai has taught me to be very patient and vigilant. Since I'm Australia no one will hear this man's story so maybe I'll be safe until then.....(Now where did I put those rifles again!!!!)

For the first time in months I watched TV last night and watched that show. The funniest thing was that this guy had a place with approximatley 10 trees, all outdoor. This person according to the show was very patient and would wait for up to a day practicing his gig until the right moment. His trees were all indoor in very bad lighting conditions. Someone wanted to make it look cool, but did not do the right research...
