The happy end!
(Photo 23.)
Shows the tree in here first show, at Joy of bonsai 2005 in Bath (U.K.) this spring. Full of flowers it looked as if she wanted to show the folks back home she was dowing just fine in Holland! (Photo 24.) Shows the tree back in my garden after she was showed at this years Ginkgo award in Belgium. The birds hade a go at here berries, but she stil looks nice! She has come a long way from that small hill somewere in Wales! I was very lucky to find here, and i look forward to the next years working with her! Thank you for your patience and i hope you liked here little story? ![]() Best regards, ![]() Hans van Meer. |

Hans:
A terrific photo story. It only proves the point about taking pictures along the way, as you develop a magnificent specimen! Thanks for all the time and effort to bring us a portion of the life of the tree from the mountain to the pot! ![]()

Are you done?
Great series, very informative. Our club collected Canyon Live Oak yesterday and mine is similar in size to your hawthorn. After viewing your pics I may have to get out the loppers and be a little more aggressive on the branches. I plant collected trees in a growing bed for the first two years - they seem to appreciate the constant moist ground at a stable temperature.
Thanks Hans! Carmen |

Great story + step-by-step Hans, i think i remember the tree from the Ginkgo Awards, very nice! You are right, it has come along way since wales, not just in distance!! Truly wonderful to see native trees being used for bonsai, is hawthorn native to Holland as well?
Many regards Rowan

Yes they are native in Holland as well, although hardly as old or spectaculaire as the ones i collected in the U.K.! I am at the moment working on some that i was able to collect close from where i live near the beach, but to find one here in Holland with any quality is very very hard, so i have been lucky once again! I hope they work out like i planed, because bonsai from dutch material are pretty rear! Best regards, Hans van Meer. Last edited by hansvanmeer : 21-Nov-2005 at 03:04 PM. |
