It could have gone either way!

Gale force winds and driving rain were too much for my property fence. Thankfully, it chose the right way to fall: towards the neighbors!

This is the side yard where I keep some material in training lined up right as you can see. Had it gone the other way it would have been pretty devastating!

We also had a limb fall from a redwood and smack square into the roof of the van, leaving a good-sized crater. Kathy, always thinking on the bright side, told me how lucky I was that it didn't hit the windshield.

This is "Irish luck" though, like getting run over by an ambulance! >

That was lucky, I can't believe wind knocked over the fence but did not blow any trees to the ground. Wow, you could have had some smashed tail lights too! Will the van be totaled,or can it be repaired? Wishing you a speedy recovery, Bonsaial

Re: It could have gone either way!

The van is basically fine. It was one of those small, mankiller branches that dies up in the tree about 30' up, gets weathered into a nice shari and then comes crashing down when it rots off at the base.

The branch was only about 4-5 inches across and 4 feet long. It wound up lying right across the hood with no visible sign of damage. It looked all wrong, and when I went and looked up on the roof, there it was. An new ashtray/mugholder.

I called insurance. We'll see if I am covered, and whether the deductable is per incident or per report!

Thanks for your concern,

Matt

I saw a damaged van one time. The guy just painted a bandaid over the large dent. It had the little airholes and everything.

Bummer. It looks like a fairly sturdy fence too. Maybe a few more posts next time round

Hope the insurance comes through.
