cottonseed in canada

Hi all,

I have decided to try to make some fertilizer cakes...

The only ingredient that I have problems to find is: cottonseed meal.

I would like to know: where can I find this product in Canada and how much should it cost for 2 - 5 Kg? (approx.)

Thanks for any help,

I've been noodleing around on the internet, and it seems Rapeseed meal aka Canola seed meal is more available in Canada. If it is you might could substitute it for the Cottonseed.

I can get cottonseed meal very easy. Ive always wanted to try rapeseed meal maybe we could do a swap if you find some Rape seed . terrible name by the way!eh?

I was beginning to think about some substitute. So far I 've ask in all the garden centers, "natural food stores", even some place where they make food for the animals. Nobody knows or ever heard about it

If I find some canola seed meal (I prefer this name ) We could swap (good idea!!!) But I fear about those shipping / customs fees. They always seems to charge where we woudn't think of...

I just sent an email to Michael Persiano about a possible substitute. If he answers to my mail, I'll let you know about it.

I received an answer from Mr. Persiano.

He confirmed that I can substitute with rape seed meal, so I'll be searching for this.

Go to a "feed store", you know one of those places that sell feed for cows, horses, etc. I paid under $8 for a 50 lb bag. Yes, it is the same stuff that you get at the organic fertilizet boutique.

After a day on the telephone trying to find canola seed meal, I quit...

It doesn't seem that it is easier than cottonseed meal to find over here. I tried all those places where they sells food for farm animals, garden centers, etc.

So I settled for soyaseed meal. This is very easy to get. I paid $5 for a 20 pounds in a place for farm animal food.

I will try that and report the results when I will have something to report
