A new contest: Tree ID using Bark!

[HR]The contest below completed October 22. Click here to reach the Answer post. Congratulations to the winner and thanks to the participants and especially Paul for posting this contest

Admin[HR]

Hi y'all.

I have received a tree that I know to be a very nice specimen for bonsai. Or it can be used in bonsai I should say. The tree itself is far from being a bonsai, but not too far.

I am giving you all the picture of the bark only. I know what the tree is. I am wondering if any of you genius's out there can identify this trees by just its bark.

You get one guess per post, and the first one to guess is the winner. No edits will be allowed, time stamps will show the true winner.

I will put up a small Sara Rayner pot (Mame) about 4" round.

I am going to take a long shot guess considering the zone you are in. Some type of Bougainvillia.

Then start searching the virtual museum and looking at trunks of all the various junipers.
