I just dug up a 5 or 6 year old concord grape from my back yard to put in a fence. Potted it into a LARGE pot.
During the process, the shaggy, scraggly bark seemed to pull lose and is sort of hanging loosely from the trunk. Does anyone know if this outer bark can be removed without an ill effects? I have seen grape bonai examples and the trunks did not have this shag bark. I can post a picture if anyone would like. |

I think some varieties of grapes shed their bark, and some don't.
