Common Honeysuckle
Through the same construction venture that will garner me a lilac, I may also receive a common Honey suckle.
The vine is about ten feet tall now, Do they back bud prolificically like many vines? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Below are two pics, one of the overall plant and the secon is a close up of the base It's about 8" across |

This is, or isn't, a "common honeysuckle." You need to find a species name for it. I suspect this IS NOT a "vining" honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) that's become an invasive pest here in the U.S. This is a bush honeysuckle, most likely one of these
http://www.nps.gov/plants/alien/fact/loni1.htm Almost all species of honeysuckle are hardy, tough and tolerant of bonsai training. Be careful with trimmings and seeds. These things are prolific and will take over gardens and nearby landscapes if left to themselves. |
