bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Collected N Daykota Spruce

Another one that I see multiple directions to go in... Any suggestions?

Bad pictures or bad eyes, you be the judge.

my thoughts are this.

The easiest direction would be to remove or jin the branch in the forth picture and work on cascading the rest.

On the other hand, you could leave this branch where it is and remove the rest of the tree. This would be more difficult to achieve a nice tree look, but may also be fun to try.

I face this problem a lot. Do i remove a branch or no, and it pains me every time. sometimes im not 100% convinced and regret it big time afterwards, so just make sure your certain of your direction before hand.

Alasdair,

Could you please post a picture of any spruce that you have worked on? I am very interested in seeing exactly what you are saying, I am hoping that "since you face this problem a lot" you can give me some experienced direction here.

Thank you,

Will

This collected material has still a long way to go but it has a very good potential in semi cascade style. I would carve the first and second branch and convert it into deadwood. Just a newbie suggestion....
