Collected Mountain Laurel

I've been reading the forum for a while and finally decided to join. I guess I had a specific question you guys wouldn't get to on your own. Today I collected 2 ,Kalmia latifolia. I know it is a little early to begin collecting, but I got them from a site at work where they were probally going to be crushed by equipment. But here in Alabama, we have been able to lift bareroot seedlings and plant them out for the last six weeks, so I was hopeing these guys would make it. I deal with trees everyday at work, but I am very new to bonsai, and was just wondering what kind of chance you guys thought these trees stood of making it. I was also wondering if any of you guys had any experience with this species. Its common name is mountain laurel. It's pretty common in the east from southen Maine to northern Florida. Those two have excellent character, and are very old. I really hope they. Make it. Any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
