"collected" boxwood
3 weeks ago I discovered two boxwoods that been thrown away behind my garden. This poor things had all the roots in the air and were one on top of each other. Big banches has been cut off. But luckily the roots were not completely out of soil so they survived.
The one underneath was so bad that all the leaves were yellow (this mean no light at all). This one has been planted in the ground and will recover for one or two years. The second one was not in too bad conditions. I don't know how long they stay like his but the bark is beautiful as they were lying down and having a lot of humidity. What could be the future of this one. Firstly it will be to have a good winter in the cold greenhouse and then the restart of the vegetation. The branches are so thick that I'm ready to rebuild the tree from the bark. |

I would say that recovery time is critical to these, keep them from freezing overwinter, and no work on them for at least a year .

Bill,
I was planning to let it go quietly during the winter it will go in a greenhouse. We are having actually some cool temperature but not freezing yet. The only thing I'm worrying it's about the huge branches that are making a kind of inverse canopy at their start. If this tree has less branches to feed it will recover even better next year, isn't it? So I would be keen to have some proposition of projects with this tree. What to keep, balancing growth for the future of the tree, ... |
