thanks, yea I'm not sure about the front yet. It has a great hollow too that I need to figure out. I wont know until I get it into a training pot and find the best angle. I cut off the top of the tree in the pics. It has a nice branch for a literati maybe.

Maybe not a classic literati, but at least a very nice medium size bonsai with curving and twisting informal upright style. Just imagine curving branches too. Don't go for straight or horizontal branches on this one. Yeah, you got a few years yet before any real styling work, so keep everything for now. Thanks for showing it!

Exactly, 古いカーブ this one will be. David Joyce styled an old yew that looks a lot like this one. You can see it in his book Natural Bonsai. It will be close to that.

Our club went down to New World again over the weekend. More great stock acquired from a great Bonsai Nursery. Thanks to owner Rob. Here's some pics of a Hawthorn I got last year (first styling) and a Barberry I got this year.

we had a great time and he has some real gems in the ground. Just have to get on your knees and get dirty and look!

here is one of the ones I got sunday! Already potted and in its new container that my wife got for me last christmas.

Thanks Rob.

Side note, he also supplied the Yews for my workshop with Marco Invernizzi in May

Another tree I got from New World. This is a Ulmus alata or winged elm, or at least that's what we think it is. If you think differently please let me know. thanks
