Matt-you are being far too sensative!
I can guess why our friend phrased his post in that way. I have seen many a time, on this forum and others, where someone will ask a question, usually something complicated and thoughtfull like "can hand pollination of crab apples be made more effective by use of a brush or utilizing a cottom bud?" A question like that shows that the asker has a fair base of knowledge and needs to have some fairly specific and specialized information. And who posts a reply to that thread? Something like this: "I've only had my juniper banzai that i got at Home Despot for a week, its sitting on top of my TV set. Why don't you let some butterflies loose in your house, they might like your crab apples and they are so pretty to look at. I love nature that's why I love butterflies and thats why I love my banzai"
You see the point? far too often posts are made for the hell of it, for the sake of the post, not really to answer a question or impart solid information.
So don't be put out about not getting to post here, because looks like you go tthe chance any way!
What makes you think I am being too sensitive? We went through this exact issue two weeks ago when a member was banned over it. It was not the one who posted the arrogant query, but the one who got offended by it, used vulgar language and had to be banned.

These threads are for anyone who wishes to read them and reply. If a poster has a particular interest in information from a specific source, or wants the poster to express his degree of experience with the topic, that's cool. But telling people the thread is not for them is most uncool and it is a shame.

Do you see my point?

Regards,

Matt

Not that he needs it but...

I have to stick up for Matt on this one.

This quote above is offensive and could be phrased for the same result in a much more pleasant way. It is also a mis-statement This thread should be for anyone who is interested in information on atlas cedars for bonsai or can contribute said same. Anyone can learn from the thread it should not be restricted to any particular knowledge base. With the quote above as the first sentence I should not have read further into the thread.

A better way to get the same result would be something like, "I would like information from those who are experienced with atlas cedars, anyone who can give valid advice or point me in the right direction would have my thanks."

I read somewhere recently the following advice, "Don't forget that there is a person on the other end reading that thread you are typing." It doesn't hurt to be courteous.

Sincerely,
JP

Anyway, thank for keeping me straight, Matt.
All the best,

Also Matt post seems to sum this whole thing up.

I think I'm quite cool, actually.

Also, I was unaware that this kind of thread caused a controversy in this forum's past. I just wanted to get a little advice from people who actually owned a blue atlas cedar bonsai. I did not mean to sound exclusive. Harry interpreted quite well why I posed the question this way. I didn't want the typical "I'm a hippie and I did this to my juniper; It'll probably work for a cedar banzai also, man" response. Oops, I guess that could have sounded kind of harsh too. Oh well, I'm done apologizing for my posts today.
Peace man,
JDL

Bisco Bonsai I am sure that you are a cool person. I said that that aspect of the post was uncool. Not that you were uncool.

Yeah, now you've offended the hippies.

Regards,

Matt

Bisco's original post was not arrogant, it was specific!
All this worry about giving offense has obsured the fact that getting to the point is the best way to do anything. Being politically correct is an end unto itself, it has nothing, NOTHING to do with being genuinely respectful, polite, or civil.
All of you lace wearing nancy boys should give up bonsai and go join a sewing circle.
What a pathetic clutch of spineless ciphers of what were once men, with dust in their souls, cobwebs in their brain pans and piss in their veins.
Matt I'm sure it was with the greatest reluctance you banned that poor bugger a fortnight ago. Great reluctance indeed and I hope you notice how firmly my tongue is up side of my cheek. Banning them that don't tow your line seems to be one of your major pleasures.

What is that sound I hear? Why it's lace-wearing nancy boys giving Harry bad rep points while hiding in anynymity. Don't sweat it Harry.

Thanks for your support, lad!
I'm not sure how long my post will be open for public view. Them that makes waves seem to have their posts Orwelled off the forum, and oft times the trouble making posters get the same treatment.
