Chinese Elm Forest

Howdy All,

Just thought I'd share with you a 9 tree Chinese Elm forest that I created 2 weeks ago. The leaves are starting to turn orange and red which makes it rather attractive. I also included a detail shot of the moss and carriage trail. Enjoy!

Oh, and one more thing..LETS GO RED SOX!!!

Oyster:
A very nice naturalistic planting. Work on making sure the thicker-trunked trees are a little taller than the thinner ones, ensuring a more varied canopy height.
Chris

Thats a pretty cool planting there Anthony.I enjoy making landscape scenes
in the potting.Reminds me of model airplanes and such.I believe Breefe is begining construction on a little hut for me to use.I may insted just build a tree house for a banyan.

Anthony,
Enjoy the look of your grouping. May I ask what convinced you to put it together in October? To my knowledge, limited for sure, this is not the best time to repot Elms? Are you planning on overwintering this group indoors this year, or will it go into your winter storage? I will look forward to seeing this group as it grows and fills out.

Anthony,
The planting seemed strangely familiar to me, and then it hit me. Did you take a group planting from one of Colin Lewis' books as your inspiration?

Chris

Hi Chris,

You've done your research. I took Colins little path and put it into my piece. IN FACT Colins forest in the book sits at the nursery where I apprentice, Bonsai West.
