Casting people with interesting tastes and hobbies for TLC's Moving Up

I've been lurking on these forums as a novice bonsai enthusiast for quite some time. Now my work as a TV director is bringing me back (with the permission of TreeBay) here to look for bonsai enthusiasts who would want to be on the TV show that I am directing.

The show, "Moving Up" airs on TLC and stars Trading Spaces designer Doug Wilson. We always look for homeowers with interesting and unique personalities and hobbies. I for one would find it fascinating to feature someone moving their home and their collection of trees and then watch as they customize their new home for their passion for bonsai.

We’re looking for people who are moving sometime between January 30 and March 30, 2006. Each episode follows three families who are buying and selling to each other in succession.

All candidates should demonstrate a strong passion for design and should have plans to change the décor of their new home right away. TLC will step in to help make those projects happen faster and less expensively.

Please note: Interested candidates must still occupy their current home. First-time buyers moving into a home that is already vacant are unfortunately not eligible since we meet with a pair of buyers and sellers.

Anyone who might be interested in participating can send me a private message or email me

Thanks a lot!

Ben

If you can move the deadline back to Q2 I will be moving from Southern Oregon back to Portland. I'll be moving 50 trees, a garage full of power tools, a truck load of fishing & fly tying gear, a drift boat, 3 pontoon boats, my wife, all her shoes, and a yellow lab. The rest of the world may not care, but I see those as interesting tastes and hobbies...

Email me if you want to discuss this further.

Rich

Well, you just described my last fishing excursion...

Actually, here is a better idea. JasonG will be moving from one Portland location to another in early summer. We can tie the two together to get both family's act of moving. Jason's interesting tastes include huge world class ponderosa pines, old arthritic dogs, a few lizards, an African Grey Parrot that likes to cuss out the neighbors, and a physicist for a wife...

The best part is Jason is my brother-in-law! So, we can make it a quasi-bonsai/fishing/crazy animal/strange taste moving show!

Sounds like you guys have me trumped. I'm just a biotech, martial artist with one stupid bird that doesn't say anything....

What a fantastic chance to get on TV and promote BONSAI to the masses.

Are we likely to ever get this program over in England Ben ? We do get a lot of the home make-over ones.... like I think you got "Changing Rooms" from this side of the water.

If not, maybe Matt can have the rights to "stream" bits on the site?

I will certainly watch this thread with interest.

Regards,
Ian.

Who ever gets on the show, be sure to plug bonsaitalk.com, as a great learning and friendship forming environment. xD If nothing else just get a BT T-shirt to wear on the show,...or some BT boxers to answer the door in. LOL
