Zen! I saw you guys walking around...before I saw this post though! :-( I'll look again.

Graydon...nice meeting you. The turntables seem quite well made!

John,

It was nice meeting you as well and thanks for the kind words. It was also nice to meet Zen and his family!

Ron - thanks for the reminder on mica pots. I will prowl the tree exhibit first thing in the AM and see what I can find. Sorry but I forgot my camera so no photos from me on this one.

All looks great in the exhibit, lots of very nice trees. To be honest there were some that needed more work but hey, it was quite a showing. It was also nice to see something other than tropicals and more tropicals.

Kind of a small vendor area. One good point is the prices I saw were less expensive then similar stuff in Florida shows.

I have pictures of every tree that was on exhibit by the club members. I didn't get to see any of the Arboretum's trees so I'll be heading back soon. I'll post the pics (or a subset therein) later.

A big THANK YOU to Jim Doyle and his wife. Thank you SOOOOO much.

(long story)

Ron, I'll post some pics when I get home. It's easier to photoshop stuff on the desktop, and I didn't bring my USB cable anyway.

Ok so meeting Graydon and seeing Steve was awesome, Graydon is one the nicest guys you'll ever wanna meet, as is Wanye (a giant thanks again for the trees man,...i''l shoot and post pics soon!) Wish i'd seen you there John.
And yes those turntables and work stations are quite nice, as soon as I am ready for a turntable I will be getting one of Graydons.
Actually Graydon, man if you're up for doing some horse trading, I have some ideas for a bigger work station/table/desk thingy. You can have the design for a discount or trade or something,...get back at me.

Wayne I did get some pics of some of the permanent exhibit,...but my batteries were dying when I got there, and the gift shop didn't sell batteries.
I'll post what I have, and you can post what you took,...between us we should cover most of the expo.
I also met Sonny Boggs up there, and bought a pot from him for FOUR DOLLARS !!! I'll post pics of it soon.

wrap up

Hi everyone. Just wanted to wrap up on this weekend. Quite a good time, would love to come back again next year.

A big thanks to John, my first BonsaiTalk customer. I hope you enjoy the turntable and that it helps you eliminate some clutter. Your entry was beautiful (hornbeam - correct?) as was the entire native tree club display.

Zen, thanks for the kind words. Let's do hook up via email. I am always willing to take input or feedback on products. If it may be something that could be built and sell I am sure we can work something out. Give me a week or so and shoot me a line.

Wayne, sorry I missed meeting you, as well as any other BT members. I met so many people I was probably yacking. Perhaps next time?

Ron, I did look twice for mica pots. Both times I was side tracked by someone and lost my train of thought from searching for mica to just enjoying the trees. Perhaps there was mica and I missed it. If so - job well done.

Overall a very nice showing. I really enjoyed the house collection. I would have liked to see some seating included in the environment as I enjoy sitting and pondering trees. Some of the stands and shelves seemed to be a little short as I was looking a little down on the trees. Just a minor complaint, it is a real nice collection in a great outside area. I would have loved to see the rest of the collection in the greenhouses but I didn't know who to beg/bribe and I simply ran out of time.

The general crowd was great. I sat in Steve Pilacik's booth most of the time and everyone seemed very nice. I do admit I loved the reaction of people looking at the price on two of the big satsuki trees. $4,400 make for some big eyes and quite a few gasps.

The weather was fantastic! Being a transplant Floridian I enjoyed waking to frost on my truck and having a reason to wear a sweater. And leaves changing color - worth the price of the trip.

Thanks again to everyone - it was a pleasure.

I'm off in the morning to Atlanta. I have a meeting at Bonsai Monk to show my turntables as a potential product for them to sell. Wish me luck!
