Carolina Bonsai Expo

I've attended the Carolina Bonsai Expo for the past several years. I'd say its the best bonsai show I've been to, but thats not saying a lot. Its still the best I've seen. The trees really are as good as any I've seen in other displays (not necessarily shows ...but I have visited a few recognized collections.)

This year I learned that I had something scheduled for that weekend ...The ONE weekend a year that I don't schedule anything had something else for me to do. Was I distraught...? Pissed...? Confused...?

Well, last night I got a glimmer of hope that I might be able to push back (off?) that other responsibility and make it to the Expo. Maybe just maybe.

This year's show is as good as any I've been to ...from the sound of things. Are any others here planning to attend? Does anyone know who is planning to vend? Are there more workshops/demos than what are currently posted here?

holding out hope,
WF

Dang!
I didn't get that vendor application in the mail this year for it!
I thought for sure I checked "Please contact me next year" box on it last year!
Have fun Wayne....Ah! The Carolinas in the Fall!

I've been informed in a roundabout way that I need to do a little research into the intricacies of literati. (Some of y'all may remember...?) I figure Bill V is as good as anyone to get a little instruction from. I really have to get my schedule firmed up so I can make definite plans.

I'll be there with a few club members. Bill will have two workshops. Participating member clubs have the ability to sign up for workshops in advance of the general public. I believe Bill will have vendor space too. Jim Doyle and Yenchin Huang of Osiga have had vendor space the last couple of years as well. Dale, we'll see you there eventually!

These are the participant clubs:
VIRGINIA: Hinoki Bonsai Society, Roanoke
GEORGIA: Atlanta Bonsai Society, Atlanta
PENNSYLVANIA: Susquehanna Bonsai Club, Harrisburg
TENNESSEE: Knoxville Bonsai Society, Knoxville; Nashville Bonsai Society, Nashville; Mid-Appalachian Bonsai Kai, Johnson City
SOUTH CAROLINA: Bonsai Club of South Carolina, Columbia; Onkochishin Bonsai Society, Florence
NORTH CAROLINA: Cape Fear Bonsai Society, Wilmington; Triangle Bonsai Society, Raleigh; Bonsai Society of the Carolinas, Charlotte; North Carolina Bonsai Association, Winston-Salem; Blue Ridge Bonsai Society, Asheville; Asheville Chapter of Ikebana International, Asheville; Blue Ridge Chapter of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society, Flat Rock

If I am not mistaken Steve Pilacik will be there and have vendor space. I am either delivering or shipping him some turntables to sell. I would love to make the trip to attend but I am not sure if I can get the time free this year.

You would figure somewhere there would be a listing of workshops and vendors for such a good expo...

Yes, Steve is usually there, as is Richard Boggs, a local potter, and Howard Kazan. Growing Grounds has been there in the past, though not last year. Ken Duncan, a fellow club member, also has a vendor table.

I'd love to attend this show if only to meet some of you guys. I have heard some very good things about it. Bill V. is always much appreciated & Arthur Joura is someone I would love to converse with too.

I'll be there with the club's (Bonsai Society of the Carolina's) display bonsai. I look forward to seeing the "regulars" and some new folks as well.

I heard this morning that leaf color in the NC mountains will start to be pretty good by mid-October and peak by the end of the month.

See y'all there.

John
