Re: Canadian Maple
I Mr Goebel about this topic. I thought he might have an opinion. I haven't seen any, so I can't say. Seems they had some big leaves, though.
Regards, Matt

Re: Canadian Maple
Shaun:
Since there are 10 maples native to Canada, you would have to be more specific as to exactly which one of the 10 you refer to as a 'Canadian' maple. If at all possible, we should always use the bonatical name when asking for information about a plant. Anyway, I have only tried one of the ten as bonsai, a Red Maple or Acer rubrum, and I am not too thrilled with the results, although I am persevering. ;-) I have managed to make it look half decent when in full leaf, but in its bare state, which to me is one of the chief attractions of growing deciduous trees, it has always been coarse. My tree is a fairly small specimen, and I think some of the problems would not be as jarring if the tree was larger. If you want to give this maple a try, I would therefore recommend starting with a tree that has at least a 3" trunk diameter. Reiner |
