canadian cat litter
I live quite a trip from the nearest bonsai nursery so i was hopig to pick up some of the proper cat litter to use as a growing medium. does anyone know of any brands sold in canada that have the proper ingredients? any info i can find on this only has brands listed for uk and us.

I think from what I've read of those that do use cat litter that its best to find one that doesn't have many chemicals in it.

Unscented and non-clumping. Otherwise you will have a pretty smelling, dead bonsai in a cast bonsai pot. You can also use a high fired clay oil dry (again with no chemicals) or soil ammendment (i.e. Turface and other brands).

Canadian Tire used to carry 'Profile', turface by any other name.. see if they still have it (though I have doubts). Plus, having 3 cats (more in the past) and ?? trees over a lot of years, I can't say I've ever run into the right litter here, but maybe I never looked very hard, plus I'm waaay out east of you.

They are the Canadian distributors for turface, and could point you to a local supplier. Also your local farm co-op (if any in area) usually have chicken grit. Make sure it is the decomposed marble type, (not oyster shells); and get the hen grit as it is the best size to use as an amendment. Just note that the grit makes your pots very heavy |
