Can anyone help a dying bonsai tree?

I received a "Bloom-rite" bonsai about 9 years ago and have never had a problem with it. The original documentation does not tell me exactly what type of bonsai it is, but after scouring the internet, it looks most like an Arboricola Scheffler.

I repotted it about 2 weeks ago, and now the stems are drooping and dying and it is on the fast track to being gone within a week. Would anyone have any suggestions on how save this plant?

Thank you...

Do you have a picture? Can you describe how it was repotted and any aftercare?

Regards,

Matt

I have no experience with Arboricola Scheffler's... make sure you're only watering when needed..

its also bad to be repotting at this time of the year.
Sorry for a bad reply, hopefully someone with more info on this species will come in here and post something.

-Evan
ps- keep us updated on it.

Does it matter what time of year you repot if you are talking about an indoor tropical bonsai? I have a schefflera inside and have yet to have any problems with it...

Haven't had a need to repot it yet though...

I trimmed the roots, repotted it into a large clay pot with regular store-bought potting soil, and watered it well after repotting. I feel quite foolish thinking that I could do this so easily and now my poor plant is suffering...

I do have a picture, but I don't have a web page to post! I posted some pictures to ofoto.com, but am not sure if you will be able to access the following URL without me sending an "invite" from ofoto:
http://www.ofoto.com/PhotoView.jsp?...id=414100470205

If anyone is willing to share an email address, I can send them the proper ofoto "invite" to see the picture. Thanks for everyone's help!

I dont think it would matter all that much if you keep it inside year round. Though, once again, i have no experience with this species, i dont know what they like and dont like.

Root trim

With the tropicals I work with, the trimmed roots can't support the full canopy of foliage. The foliage will start to wilt.

So, how much root was removed, and did you trim the foliage proportionally?

If not, you may be able to trim it back now.
I hope another member will chime in on this advice.

As an aside, you do not need a web page or anything but the picture you wish to post here on your computer.

When you make a post or a reply look below the box you type your entry in and below the sbmit reply button and you will see the additional options section, look at the manage attachments and it will allow you to post a picture to the thread directly, no personal web page needed.

The potting soil might just be the problem. It usually holds way to much water for a Arboricola. They seem to thrive on begin neglect. They should only be watered once the soil is almost dry. Root rot sets in quite rapidly when the soil stays too wet.. A will draining soil is a must for them.

I have a Schefflera arboricola as a houseplant. It has variegated leaves but the common form is all green. It is often known as Umbrella tree as the leaves are formed of 6 or more leaflets radiating from the centre. It is an aralia, related to Ivy and Fatsis japonica and is quite easy to grow. It likes a bright position but not direct sun for long (I put mine outside for a while during the summer months). It also likes the soil to be kept fairly moist(but not water logged, check for good drainage), tho I have found that at this time of year it will tolerate a drier soil providing the temperature isnt too high.
Many tropicals dislike draughts but this one seems to handle things fine, but if it has been moved from a favourable position in winter it may droop a little in protest, but it should pick up shortly.

It grows fairly quickly but mine refuses to branch (I pruned it last year in hope of forming side branches, it just put one shoot out which grew out at an angle).

A pic of the plant, as others have sais, would be helpful.
