Cool Can anybody tell about Ficus Benjamina?

I recently bought a ficus benjamina from a nursery store and I dont know what to do first. Should I repot the ficus or trim it. The ficus is in a plastic container and is very healthy, Im going to post a photo tomorrow because I have to use my web cam
to take the picture and now is already dark. Any sugestions will be appreciate.

Prune it to shape and then repot. Sometimes you have to dig around the trunk exposing the rootage in determining the front but it is best to prune then repot.
Looking forward to your pics.

It would be easier to respond if we had more info. Your profile does not have any info in it so we do not know were you live or how much experiance you have.

First, what are your goals with the tree (are you happy with the current size)? Does it have rocks glued to the surface of the soil (sold as a bonsai or as a house plant)? If it has rocks glued to the surface than it is a mallsai and there is an article here (on this site, you can use the search function) on how to re-pot.

Also if your camera has a flash you can take pics at night, just do not have it close to anything in the background and it will turn out pretty good.

Big Smile Benj cont.

This tree is about 28 in tall and the trunk is 1.5 in in diameter and it it very healthy.
I live in zone 11; now we are in late summer and autum is just around the corner.
I have only 4 year in the bonsai frenzy so any help will be appreciate.regards

In zone 11 this tree should be nearly indestructable! They are very tough even here in zone 5 (although they come in for the winter with additional lighting). The foliage starts pretty high up on the trunk. The picture is very low resolution so it is difficult to see what is going on.

You should be safe to prune/style and re-pot now. I always leave 2-3 leaves on a branch. I have had problems with dieback (of the branch not the tree) if I do not. You can wire these with no troubles, just wire somewhat loosly as they grow fast. Use a free draining bonsai soil with some organics.

FYI... I only have 4 years experiance as well but I have been growing the small leaved variety since the start.

Hope this helped!
