I used one in a class once, and ever since then the only thing that has kept me from buying one is the price. During the winter I work on my trees at the kitchen table, and I just know it is going to be a million times easier then having to pick up the pot turning it then setting it back down.
Matt, thanks for the search tip. I actually went to home depot with a print out of the lock and took it to the guy working in the door department. He said he didn't think they even made that type any more and took me to the section where they had all the push/pull and spring loaded types to show me. Maybe next time! I just realized I didn't answer Aurelius question about rounding out the handle. I drilled 2- 1" holes using a spade bit then cut the center out with a jig saw. Adam |

Why wait? It was pretty cold here this weekend, I just made quick trips outside to make my cuts, then right back inside!
![]() Good luck to you when you do it! I'd like to see pictures when you are finished too! Adam |

A quick suggestion. It might be a good idea to cover the plywood base with rubber matting. Leaving the turntable out in the rain or covered with wet soil is hard on plywood. I have destroyed a few unprotected plywood turntables with such mistreatments.

Hank,
The back is covered with the rubber matting. I had first thought to cover the front with it too, but I ran out of material. I had some extra stain from another project I worked on, and a little bit of polyurethane left over too. I figure I will protect it with that. After I finish I will see how it comes out and if I don't like it I can simply cover the front with the rubber too. Thanks for the comment Adam |

Nice job Adam looks sweet!
everyone else, just a suggestion, but turntables do not have to be expensive, for quite a long time I used a roating TV turn table that was cheap and did the job great, i think it cost me £3-4. THis past chistmas however, my girlfriend got me a proper one i'll provide a pic of both later. and link to the manufactorer of the more expensive turntable later on today when i get chance. I personally find them invaluable especially being tall. Jonny. |
