Building A Turntable
A while back I saw a great thread posted by Matt in the Tips&Misc section. The article had step by step instructions for building your own turntable. Check it out here Build a Turntable Well, after a while of putting it off I built mine this weekend. I made a couple of alterations to the original plan.
First I made the base a little bigger. I did this so I would have a space to rest my tools on while working on a tree. Second I could not for the life of me find a source for the brake that was listed in the article. So I got creative and found a substitute at Home Depot. So here's what I did. Here you see the brake I came up with. At first I was going to just use the carriage bolt you see here, but later I decided to use a thumb screw as you will see in the next picture. This baby almost broke the bank but I was able to scrounge up the .74 cents that it cost. ![]() |

I got it at a local hardware store. It's called rubber runner. It's pretty thick and usually used inside heavy traffic areas here in the north east (mostly during winter) It allows water snow and ice to melt into the grooves.
Glad you like it! Adam |
