Thumbs up BSF Exhibit at Epcot 2005

Tom Zane has posted This year's Epcot pictures on the Bonsai Societies of Florida Web Site .

COngrats to all those whose trees are shown.

dbz12fan's Big Bougie is featured in the photos. I hope someone gets a photo of it a little later, when it's in full bloom!

That BSF site is a favorite of mine, and a must see for any lover of tropcal bonsai.

Great trees. Epcot should host a permanent display. I was rather disappointed with the landscaping there for the most part. Bonsai of these quality would really dress up the place.

But those Epcot signs on the pots - much too bold. Looked more like advertising than infomational signs for the bonsai. It's not like anyone would forget their at Epcot, for gods sake.

Hey everone,
Set up was a blast. Did you know you can actually drive inside the epcot area? We drove right into the Japan pavilion to set up. Once set up was complete, we were allowed to stay in the park for the day. It certainly was an enjoyable experience that I recommend to others who are interested in showing their trees at epcot.

Believe it or not, I was not the youngest exhibitor. A fourteen year old by the name of Ryan Glenn had two trees on display. If I were him, I would have saved one for next year's display . Which is, in fact, what I did. I have a ficus salicifolia planned for next year's display, and a bald cypress for the year after.

Here is a photo of my bougie that I have been saving for some time now. If you remember, I mentioned that I was going to get a pretty full flower some time ago. I ended up cutting them off right after so that I could try and get another flower for the epcot exhibit. The bracts in the photo on BSF website are rather reddish in color right now. This is the typical color when the bracts are new. As they age they turn a deeper shade of purple.

I am sure the tree will not be too happy about all of this stress. So, I will allow it to recover for the months after the epcot exhibit. Anyways, I will edit my avatar with this picture a little later. For now, it is dinner time.

charles,

congrats! i saw it at the meeting last month here at the Bonsai Society of Brevard; it is truly amazing. that pic is pretty good, but it does not do his tree justice at all.

i look forward to seeing it again.
