Broken Record..One More Time...Again...

Hi all, OK this is not the first time (or even the second) I've tried to get everyone to fill in there 'user profile'. Honest, I will not come visit you...I promise. It is just that when I read responses to posts, it is nice to look to the left and see not only who wrote the entry, but from where they are growing their trees. Someone giving advise from zone 5 is different than zone 8. Eastern Zone 6 conditions are different than western, and non of this takes in the many many members from outside the USA.

So please....click on the USDA Zone on any of the threads, find out your zone. Then go to the 'user cp' button and then to the edit profile button. Enter your USDA zone. Then also take a minute and give us your 'country' and your 'town or county'. For the town or county I've chosen to say 'Orange County NY..well because I do not think anyone will know Warwick NY.

This is not an attempt to find out things that are not anyones business but yours, it's just an attempt to make our interactions more meaningful! Soooooo, give it a min or two and fill it out...PLEASE!!!

Thank you!

I know this is a sore topic with me...hey, I've brought it up several times.

Is it, I'm wrong in asking for the info? or is it that it just is an oversite with the group at large?

Honest it is nice to know a little about ya. It doesn't hurt and it is not a look into the private you!

As an aside, you will all notice that some of us have modified our "Custom User Text" section to give everyone a little more info. I've put 'A Novice with some Knowledge" and Glenn has put "Field Grower"... gives you all a little more info!

How do you work out your Zone?? According to the little map, I am in zone 9 which has an average temp of -6.6 to -1.1. Now I know it dont get very warm here but it never gets down that cold!! Well it does now and again, but very rarely. Our average yearly temp is probably about 15 degrees c or something?

Jay, I gave in last time you whined about this and filled in my zone. I think most people that have been around for a while know I'm in Oklahoma where we have all this crazzy weather. 70 degrees yesterday, 12 degrees tonight so I'm not sure the zone tells the whole story but it's there for what it's worth.

Adam, The zones are based on the minimum winter temperatures averaged over a period of years. So you tend to get the extremes in there. It doesn't mean that the low temps in any given winter can't be warmer or colder. It's just a general guide as to to what should be cold hardy in your zone given the average winter.
