bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Tom, it is a Spectracide product containing Myclobutanil - 0.012% and Permethrin - 0.020%. It is available in an aerosol can so it is very easy and convenient for those small 'spot' treatments...I have used it on azaleas, crabapples and even my finicky fukien tea without ill effects. of course, non chemical means are usually desirable but sometimes you gotta do more.

And, btw, I recommend NOT using bionide All Seasons Spray Oil on your raintrees (unless, of course, you would like to defoliate it prior to some intensive wiring - just kidding...)

Tom,

Glad to hear (and see) it's doing well. They're tough suckers in stark contrast to their soft appearance (of course, the thorns can change that view too).

Your specific tree look nice. It is particularly well off in the tapering of the trunk for acacia. I wish you many years of happiness with it.

Best regards,

John

P.S> If you didn't already know it, you can cut off the thorns without harming the tree, if you are so inclined.

I always remember that point after I have been unmercifully impaled during wiring!

Not only are they tough, but they develop very quickly. When I look back at some pics of the same tree from only a few years ago, I am amazed. I especially enjoy how the trunk starts to twist and flatten.

They also recover very quickly from wire damage (not that I have any first hand experience with that, of course
)
