Thumbs up Wow !

Matt,

Just when I thought I was getting some nice trees - you go and post this

What can I say - some MAGNIFICENT trees in that nursery!

Notice the cool idea of the "Barbers seat" base being used as a turntable stand in the lower left picture. Never seen that before - will be looking out for these at Auction now - or maybe a Office chair mechanism or Old Drawing Table base would be alternatives.

Thanks for sharing

Ian.

I have been to Suzuki's nursery four or five years ago. It really is a wonderful place. It is hard to fathom the quality and health of trees that were cramped so tightly into these quarters, but it was a hive of activity with a number of apprentices working full time. This garden also had the FU-DO Japanese Black Pine that had recently won a Prime Minister award at Taikan-ten. I still have the show poster that was signed by both Suzuki and Mitsuya in Sumi ink. I remember Suzuki grinding the inkstone on his back porch among all those beautiful trees.

Regards,

Matt
