Bonsai Today 82
I have really enjoyed this issue as it has a couple of articles close to my heart. The first is a wounderful gallery of photos of european olives from spain. To see these photos is to understand why I field grow this material.
The second is even closer to my heart and is the article on refining a trident maple. Boon Manakitivipart is presenting a beautiful trident and although I do not yet have anything that even comes close to this tree I would like to quote him. Boon says "Like so many trees I work on, this maple is well developed and has a good outline, but the tree could become more beautiful by improving the nebari and branch ramification. The first step in making these improvements--in making any improvements in bonsai--is increasing the trees health and vigor by working on the roots". Glenn
