Bonsai Lesson No. 126

Big Snow Crush Little Tree.

Yes, I started a bunch of pine and elm seedlings last year and overwintered them in the garden... i thought the snow would surround them uniformly (underneath, around, and above) thus keeping them suspended in their original state... wrong... snow crush bonsai... oh well... most of them should pull through because they are nice and flexible, although I havent fully assayed the damage because the snow is just starting to melt.

Good example of how reading will only get you so far... experience is what really counts... even the bad ones ... I will persevere!

Snow can be a great styling aid, somewhat like cows and lightning.

Never know you might get some winners. If you think about it all those trees up there all started out as seedlings, and grew up. But twisting and torture can make some sweet trunks for our trees.

haha yes very good point... the only thing im concerned about is my elms, which I am planning to style as brooms, so i want to keep the trunks very straight... nothing a quick wiring can't handle though...
